I always enjoyed using the print room at college and my Dad made me a make-shift press when I was about 16; it was only small- about A4 in size, the tension wasn’t quite right though! But it did create some unusual images.

I love everything about printing, the smell of the ink, soaking the paper, pulling the paper through the press, not knowing exactly what you are going to get!…………and i have recently reignited my long lost passion .

I love the experimental aspect of collagraphs. I do have a bit of an obsession for texture, and this style of printing does lend itself well to my way of working.

Each piece is created from a plate that I have made, this is then printed from, using my etching press. I never print more than 12 from each plate, and no two are ever the same.

The watercolour paper is never less than 300gsm and they are printed using intaglio printing inks and are sometimes further worked into with other mediums like inks, acrylics, oils and gold and silver leaf, like my original canvases are.

The prints are available to buy from me at my studio and the plates are also available to purchase after the twelve have been printed.

If you fancy having a go at making your own collagraphs……then do contact me, it’s great fun!
